FOR OUR BRETHREN AND FRIENDS ABROADIt is with much sorrow that I share that our church in Recife - Pernambuco, in Brazil, was invaded and sacked this month. Many liturgical objects were taken, especially the ones made of metal, as were our fans and other items of value, and the windows were broken, which led to a considerable loss in a moment in which scarcity was already a reality for our Church. Our Bishop His Grace Ambrose, with great difficulty, had just installed the new windows for our temple. On top of that our bishop has been suffering from very serious health conditions. He's been basically blind for a period in the past, and he had to move to the monastery, which is the reason why the temple is only opening to the public on alternating Sundays, making the job of the bandits much easier. Besides the loss due to the break-in, we also had an additional cost due to the investment in security apparatus to prevent that to happen. We humbly ask, for those of you that are able and willing, that you help our church in Recife in this time of need. And please, leave your donation with your name, so we can include you in our prayers. Regarding His Grace Ambrose and our church: we are part of the Brazil Orthodox Eparchy, an integral part of the Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Poland, under His Beatitude Sawa, Archbishop of Warsaw and Metropolitan of All of Poland. His Grace Ambrose is an auxiliary bishop, under the omophorion of His Eminence Archbishop Chrysostom, bishop of Rio de Janeiro and Olinda-Recife. We are a jurisdiction made exclusively of Brazilian converts, including our two shepherds. The entirety of the clergy has side jobs to financially support our jurisdiction because the vast majority of the laity, including the faithful of Recife, is of humble condition. Thank you so much, and God bless you.---------------------- Em Português ---------------------Olá amigos.
